I’m still a little sad that Cyberpunk 2077 is a first-person shooter. I was hoping it would be third-person since it’s an RPG and focuses a lot on cool outfits and character customization.
Alas, it’s a first-person loot-and-shoot rather than CD Projekt Red’s Witcher games, and you’re stuck seeing the world from V’s eyes. That has its pros and cons, I suppose.
Now, thanks to a new mod, you can try out the game in third-person.
The catch? Well, it doesn’t work very well and it’s a bit tricky to get installed and working (see the second video below). It’s also only available on PC.
The mod—created by modder Jelle Bakker—can be found here. It will allow you to walk around slowly in third-person. Just don’t try any funny business, like running or getting into combat. And there’s some extra steps needed to get the head to populate.
But other than that, this is the closest, simplest way to get Cyberpunk 2077 to run in third-person.
Here’s how to install it:
It’s not perfect but it definitely makes me wish that CDPR had included a third-person option. Hey, if PUBG can function as both a third and first-person shooter, why not Cyberpunk 2077? Maybe they’ll add it in the distant future.
The mod itself, which is described as a “work in progress”, will also likely get better and more functional in time.
