Philips Hue Lamp Can't Be Accessed Through Alexa

currently it seems connection problems in the middle Give Philips Hue and Amazon Alexa, Reports are piling up that devices are unreachable and that too set up account linking causes problems. Here’s a brief guide on how to solve the problem between Amazon Alexa and Philips Hue bulbs.

Can’t Access Philips Hue Devices – Can’t Set Up Alexa Skill – How Does It Work Anyway!

Some users of Philips Hue lamps are currently seeing messages in the Alexa app that device unreachable Huh. These devices also cannot be addressed by voice command. That’s why it makes sense to start a new device search through Amazon Alexa. Far from it, as it doesn’t remedy the situation, as devices are already known to Amazon Alexa via an internal ID. But (de-)reactivating the Amazon Alexa skill gives you another problem, because the Philips Hue Alexa skill’s account link is also interrupted and acknowledges the service with an error message.

So if you disable the skill and then re-enable it, you’ll have to re-enter your account information, and then you’ll get an error message “Could not pair with Hue this time. Please check later.” Try again.” in the Alexa app.

This is how you can activate the Philips Hue Alexa skill despite the error message!

Anyway there is a small solution to successfully activate Alexa Skill of Philips Hue. The easiest way to do this is on a PC, because here you can just go to the Alexa website and activate the skill. This website is a bit more limited than the Alexa app on a smartphone, but you can activate the skill here. Simply go to https://alexa.amazon.de.

The whole thing is a bit trickier on a smartphone. Here you have to “convince” the website to display the actual website. I have an iPhone and when I call the above URL in Safari, I only get the message to install and use the Alexa app. Here you have to tap on “AA” in the address bar on the left to select in the menu to display the desktop website. Unfortunately, I can’t say how it works on an Android phone as I don’t have a smartphone, but it’s definitely similar.

The website will open and you can navigate to Alexa Skills in the menu and reactivate your Philips Hue skill and link it to your account. All devices must again be accessed via voice and the Alexa app.
