In addition, Rostock recently announced its preparation plan for the upcoming season. Apart from an international Test match against Trelleborg Vikings (10 September), the Hanseatic townspeople will again take part in the North East Cup, as they did last year.

Compared to last year’s tournament, the area of ​​participants has increased by three more teams. In addition to the Espiraten Krimmitschau and the Lausitzer Fuchsen (both the second German ice hockey leagues), Rec League opponents Icefighters Leipzig, Halle Saale Bulls and Black Dragons Erfurt will also compete for the first time.

“We liked the preparatory tournament last year and it quickly became clear to us that we would like to participate in it in the future as well. With three new participants from the Oberliga Nord it is even more interesting and a very special attraction at this stage of the season. Will,” said Piranha vice president Christian Trems.

The six clubs will play the first leg and the second leg against each opponent in two groups. This is followed by a game of placement against opponents from the other group.

The start date of the North-East Cup is 27 August. Ostseestädter receives the first ice pirate Krimmitschau. Then the Hanseatic townspeople Icefighters will perform in Leipzig (29 August).
