Polar bear genius Gawanke is flying to Canada - BZ Berlin

Was the game for Leon Gawanke in the Polar Bear jersey the last game against DEG on Monday? If things go well for Berliner, the return of the polar bear may take years.

On Thursday, the DEL Record champion received news that the Winnipeg Jets, who had acquired Gawanke right in the 2017 draft, were wanted by the player immediately. In 2019/20, he played in the lower class AHL for the Jets’ farm team Manitoba Mose. It will probably go back there now. And if things go there in 2019/20 as well – Gawanke scored four goals and 22 assists in 48 matches – the Jets could pull him to the NHL very quickly.

Gawanke is flying to Winnipeg this week, from there to attend a pre-season training camp in Manitoba. AHL starting 5 February. “I am very grateful to Eisbären Berlin that I have been able to train and play here in the last few months. I was born here and it was always my childhood dream to play for the polar bear. Now, of course, I am looking forward to the new season in North America, ”Gawanke said in a press release by Polar Bear.
