Police remove obstacles in East Jerusalem

The walk is again accessible on the Old City in Jerusalem. The Israeli police opened the way to the public despite further demonstrations.

After nights of violent conflict between Israelis and Palestinians in East Jerusalem, Israeli police cleared a resort around the old city of Israel-occupied Jerusalem. An AFP correspondent reported that several hundred Palestinians had demonstrated from Damascus Gate to the Old City on Sunday evening, with police officers allowed to remove the barricades during the walk. Policemen announced through the megaphone that access was open to all.

Earlier, there had been three consecutive violent clashes between Palestinians and police since Thursday. The trigger was a display of right-wing extremist Israel, who roamed the old city shouting “Death to the Arab”. Earlier, tensions between Muslim Palestinians and Jewish Israelis were filled by a series of videos. He showed how young Arabs attack ultra-Orthodox Jews and how Jewish extremists harass Arabs on the street at night.
