California wins $2 billion lottery
This combination was broken in California for the biggest jackpot ever – 10, 33, 41, 47, 56 and as bonus number 10!
A player in a US state won two billion dollars in the Powerball lottery. It is still not clear who the lucky person is. One thing is certain: the winner will get much less. Due to the various deductions, there is only about $998 million left in the end. However, the winner can also opt for annual payment of partial amount.
The eagerly awaited “Powerball” lottery draw with a record jackpot was also postponed at short notice. Reason: One of the participating lottery companies required more time to take the prescribed safety precautions. The California Lottery announced this on Monday evening. “The Powerball has strict safety requirements that all 48 lotteries must meet prior to drawing,” California Lotteries wrote on Twitter.
According to updated calculations, the jackpot was estimated at $1.9 billion on Monday, but stood at $2.04 billion as of Tuesday morning. The record jackpot was never broken again in the last drawing on Saturday and thus raised another $300 million – the world’s biggest grand prize in lottery history.
The last time a “Powerball” winner was in early August. Since then, in 40 draws, no player has been able to choose the six correct numbers. According to operators, before Saturday’s drawing, the jackpot had already risen to $1.6 billion, making it the “largest lottery prize ever won in the world”.
Powerball lottery tickets cost two dollars and are sold in 45 US states, the capital district of Washington DC, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. The odds of hitting the jackpot are about one in 292 million.
In Powerball, five main numbers out of 69 are typed, as well as a type of super number from 26. The chance of winning is 1 in 29.2 crores. For comparison: with German Lotto 6 out of 49 it is 1 in 140 million. (NKO/JBR/AP)
