Premier Schmihal thanks Freeland for Canada's support for Ukraine

Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denis Schmihal held a meeting in the United States with Canada’s Deputy Prime Minister and Treasury Secretary Chrystia Freeland, during which he thanked the Canadian people for their great and heartfelt support.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Prime Minister of Ukraine wrote about this in the online service Telegram.

“In the United States, I met a true friend from Ukraine, Chrystia Freeland. We talked with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Canada about supporting our state and the Ukrainian people in the fight against the Russian aggressor,” Shyamal wrote.

According to him, Canada became the first country to transfer 1 billion Canadian dollars to a special IMF management account set up to help Ukraine.

“I thank you personally for this. We feel an extremely strong and heartfelt support from the people of Canada throughout,” the prime minister said.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shyamal will be on a working visit to Washington (USA) on April 21 and 22. The Prime Minister of Ukraine attends a ministerial meeting at the 2022 Spring Meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. Schmyhal also holds meetings with representatives of the US Congress, heads of international financial and humanitarian organizations, and US ministers.
