He said in a statement that the couple, who now live in California, will be visiting some of the charities in Europe that are close to their hearts. This includes an event for the Invictus Games in Germany on 6 September, to be held in Düsseldorf next year. A day earlier, the Royals are expected to be in the English city of Manchester. On 8 September we will again go to Great Britain. The statement said both are “happy”.
Harry and Meghan broke away from close ties with the British royal family in early 2020. They live in Santa Barbara, California with their two children Archie and Lillibet. Relations with other royals are considered partially strained.
Home visits have become rare in recent years, not just because of the pandemic. Harry is also at trial with the UK Home Office over whether he can still obtain police protection for himself and his family in the UK.
The Invictus Games, a sports competition for soldiers and veterans wounded in action, is considered a project close to Prince Harry’s heart. They first happened in 2014. With Düsseldorf, an event venue is planned for the first time in Germany.
