The first real cracker – with a lot of hard preparation!
The top duel between runners-up RB Leipzig and champions FC Bayern will take place on Saturday evening. A very special game, especially for Julian Nagelsmann (34), as this is his first duel with his ex-club.
Early this afternoon, Nagelsmann began his first training session after four days off in preparation for the top game, with Leipzig starting a day later. Both clubs would have to do without their top stars first – BILD compares before cracker.
National players gone! At Bayern, 11 stars are still on the road: seven German national players Neuer, Süle, Kimmich, Goretzka, Gnabry, Sane and Moussiela as well as Lewandowski (Poland), Koman (France), Davies (Canada) and Chaupo-Motting. (Cameroon). The DFB players are due to play in Iceland on Wednesday evening, so they will not fully return until the final training session on Friday. Their national teams in Leipzig have a total of 16 players.
Sick Stars! Thomas Muller (31) has suffered an adductor injury and is not yet able to train again. Newcomer Marcel Sabitzer (27/adctors) started his first training in the past few days and should now slowly start team training. Upamecano (thigh) and Tolisso (calf) were also injured from the national team, with Stanisic (toe) injured. Leipzig has had fewer problems so far.
Returning! Nagelsmann hopes Hernandez, Roca and Pavard can get back on track after their injuries. During training, he would first have to rely on the second line with Sarr, Richards, Ulreich, Cuisance & Co filling it with young players. At RB, Spain star Dani Olmo can celebrate his return against Bayern.
One thing is clear: neither Bayern nor Leipzig can really play for the cracker …
