Valerie Pecrecy became the first female Republican presidential candidate in France. Your choice will come as a surprise. She was able to prevail against the major party allies.

In France, conservative Republicans are sending a woman to former minister Valerie Pecrecy for the first time in a presidential election. In the second round of membership decisions, the 54-year-old won 61 percent of the vote against Southern French MP Eric Siotti, who received 39 percent of the vote.

“Today I think of all the women in France. I will do everything to win,” the liberal-conservative politician declared after his victory in the party’s runoff election against the vigorous right-wing Ciotti.

With this the “Republican Right” is back, hence Pecress. “We will give back to our country its unity, dignity and pride.” The right-wing camp last provided a president from 2007 to 2012: Nicolas Sarkozy.

Macron is currently the favorite in the presidential election

The election of Pecress as a candidate came as a surprise. Of the five applicants, the former EU chief Brexit negotiator, Michelle Barnier, and Javier Bertrand, president of the Hauts-de-France regional council, of all things potential. “I’m the only one who can win against Macron,” Pecras said after being surprisingly strong in the first round of the primaries and had made it to the runoff election.

As of current polls, however, it is not certain that Republicans will make it to the second round of election in April 2022. The current favorite is incumbent President Emmanuel Macron, who has great potential to run again. Right-wing populist Marine Le Pen is currently second in the polls.

Pecrese is a former university minister and current regional president of le-de-France. 140,000 party members were called to the Republican internal area code.
