Berlin Reported after the surprise presentation of the new main battle tank “Panther” in June rheinmetallBoss Armin Paperger is in great demand now. “Across Europe, about 1,000 of the 8,000 main battle tanks will be replaced by 2030. With our new Panther we want to deliver at least half of the volume, that is, about 500 units,” Armin Pepperger told Handelsblatt. So far, the model has been offered to representatives from more than 20 countries.
Rheinmetall unexpectedly presented the KF51 Panther as the successor to the Leopard 2 at the Paris Ordnance Fair Eurosatory. The Rhinelanders are involved in the production of the Leopard, but only as a junior partner. Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) is the leader. Paperger now wants to get out of the shadow of the opponent.
