A tragic, premature end to the light show at the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie: the art installation “Breaking Waves” had to be canceled due to massive interference from alien drones.
“During dress rehearsals and Thursday’s premiere, the art show was largely disrupted by third-party high-speed drones,” Elbphilharmony announced Friday.

Several drones collided and crashed, endangering the safety of spectators and staff. The kinetic work of art was originally scheduled to be on display at 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
As the Elbphilharmonie announced on Friday evening, he was already in touch with the authorities. “According to information received from aviation security officials, there has never been a disruption in air traffic of this intensity and aggression in Germany,” it said in a press release.

Since it cannot be ruled out that interference from third-party drones may have occurred again on Friday, a follow-up performance of the “Breaking Waves” light installation had to be cancelled. “The artists responsible and Drift at Elbphilharmonie are saddened and disappointed,” said Elbphilharmonie.
In the installation by Dutch artist duo Drift, a swarm of hundreds of illuminated drones staged the concert hall – choreographed for the second movement of Thomas Aedes’s Piano Concerto. (MP)
