Seduction 2021.3.0 (“Wintersky”): Community distribution with Linux 5.15.11 based on Debian

With Seduction Version 2021.3.0 (“Wintersky”) is a new version of the community distribution based on Debian Unstable (“Sid”) and Linux 5.15, with a total of three current desktops, published by Linux developer Ferdinand Thomas, the famous There is ComputerBase, among other environments.

Three Desktops and a Window Manager

The current release of Seduction, which is based on a snapshot of Debian Unstable from December 23, is offered this time in a total of five flavors and is used with the modern KDE Plasma 5.23.4 and the more resource-saving desktop LXQt 1.0. 0 and XFC 4.16.

The Seduction community also provides a X.OrganizationSystem Image with Light Window Manager fluxbox is on, while the NOX version is not x window system gets by. Known from the MATE desktop environment, Linux Mint and LXDE, Cinnamon is no longer officially supported.

With immediate effect, in addition to MATE which was missing in previous releases, we are discontinuing delivery of Cinnamon and LXDE and focusing on KDE Plasma, LXQT, XFC, XOR and NOX variants.

In the latest version, pipwire now replaces under Debian (“Sid”) pulseaudio and inet wireless daemon iwd, which was already distributed with Seduction 2021.1.0 for Flavors X.Org and noX, is now also responsible for WLANs under KDE Plasma, LXQt and Xfce. There are also updated software packages.

In addition, the Seduction community promises further improvements to the graphical installation routine Calamares, which will be included in one of the upcoming releases.

As a little Christmas present, we’re showing a small slideshow with some of our wallpapers from the past 10 years during installation. We have more plans for disasters in the near future. We are planning to publish an image where both the desktop environment and individual packages for it can be selected in the installer.
