British actress Una Stubbs has died. He died at home in Edinburgh on Thursday at the age of 84, as his agent confirmed to the German press agency. A message from her family said that she died peacefully due to age-related illness.
Stubbs was best known to German television audiences through the crime series “Sherlock” as the detective’s landlady, played by Benedict Cumberbatch. However, she has been a star in the UK since the 1960s. Among other things, she played in the soap operas “EastEnders”, the British equivalent of “Lindenstrasse”, and in the series “Inspector Barnaby”, which were also successful in Germany.
Screen and stage career of over 50 years
Her agent Rebecca Blond praised Stubbs as “an amazing actress whose screen and stage career spanned more than 50 years”. But she was also a “naughty, elegant, stylish, grateful, generous, friendly and constant friend”, continued the blonde. (ash/dpa)
