Stutzl, not Stutzl: Why a young German played Ottawa

Ottawa hopes to recover

Senators in the NHL are hoping for all of this from the supporters trained by Adler Mannheim as soon as possible. In the last three seasons, the team was either the last or the best in their department, with the 18-year-old Warshener should the future role be better. In third place, the owners selected him in the draft, only once did a team decide so quickly for a player with a German passport: Edmonton Oilers for Leon Dreiszital in 2014. And he was the NHL’s top scorer last season and the first German to be the most valuable professional in the league – both by other players and by reporters.

But the 25-year-old from Cologne still knows how difficult it was to get there. He was quickly sent back to the Juniors himself, had to fight and be vocal and therefore now warned against Stutzl’s very high expectations. “Tim is still very, very young and it’s really hard to get into the league and play straight there. You have to be careful not to push too much or have too many expectations. A young man like him has to work his way up first. Occasionally find it, and maybe that takes a little time at first, ”said Dreissetel of the German press agency.

Stutzel will turn 19 on Friday. It is also the day that the Senators go to their first game of the season against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
