US carmaker Tesla is looking for people worldwide who can test and document the Autopilot of its Tesla vehicles, which include ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistant System) assistance systems and full self-driving functions (FSD) for autonomous driving. Are included. This is evident from many of Tesla’s job ads. Accordingly, ADAS test staff must work full-time. Major European cities such as Barcelona, Milan and Paris are also on the lookout for testers.
A sufficient university degree or other technical training is not explicitly required for a job as an ADAS tester at Tesla, The job advertisement for Barcelona is shown as an example of almost identical job offers around the world.
Instead, Tesla relies on other skills: as a basic requirement, interested people must have a flawless vest in their traffic offenders register, drive safely, control a vehicle, and be well without assistance systems. Must be able to navigate well. Interested parties should also have previous experience with ADAS and autopilot systems and their sensors. A basic understanding of vehicle components such as brakes and power steering as well as their function should also be present. Obviously, “excellent attention to detail and a very high level of observation” is particularly important to Tesla.
On-road testing in real conditions
Tesla’s tasks include drafting test specifications and evaluation criteria for Autopilot and ADAS. As per the given test specifications, the system is to be tested outdoors in particular scenarios. Test data will be evaluated using tools developed by Tesla, and triage and analysis of software problems and abnormal vehicle behavior. The information is then passed on to the development teams and test engineers at Tesla, from whom ADAS operators are required to answer questions. Since employees in the respective geographies work largely self-sufficient, they are also responsible for maintaining the operating condition of the vehicle and for any repairs.
So far, Tesla is primarily seeking ADAS testers for the United States to test systems for Autopilot and autonomous driving. Traffic, traffic rules and traffic signs as well as driver behavior in the United States differ from other countries, so Tesla now wants to expand the tests internationally.
The Roadster was Tesla’s first production car.

Tesla boss Elon Musk is also a tester of FSD packages in his vehicles. Its latest version led them to the statement that a Level 5 related FSD system could come from Tesla this year. Experts are skeptical. At the moment, the current sensor setup of Tesla vehicles is only sufficient for Level 2. Level 4 and 5 automatic driving can only be achieved slowly and can take years, he says. Tesla vehicles have been involved in accidents in the past, with Autopilot apparently active in Texas and Michigan, for example.
