FIFA is also making a decisive change to the mode.

For the first time, a total of 48 countries can participate in the World Cup. Since 1998, there have been 32 participants in each World Championship. As of the current situation, there should no longer be groups of four, but the preliminary round will be divided into 16 groups of three. According to the Guardian, however, discussions are ongoing as to whether to return to the mode with groups of four.

The US selected the following venues: New York City Metropolitan Area (MetLife Stadium), Dallas/Fort Worth/Arlington Metropolitan Area (AT&T Stadium), Kansas City (Arrowhead Stadium), Houston (NRG Stadium), Atlanta (Mercedes- Benz Stadium), Los Angeles metropolitan area (Sophie Stadium), Seattle (Lumen Field), San Francisco Bay Area (Levi’s Stadium), Boston metro area (Gillette Stadium), Miami metro area (Hard Rock Stadium).

Mexico has a total of three World Cup venues: Mexico City (Aztec Stadium), the metropolitan area of ​​Monterrey (Estadio BBVA Bancomer) and Guadalajara (Estadio Acron).
