When original and double meet, it can get weird!
At least that was feared by “The Crown” actress Emerald Fennell (36), who plays Duchess Camilla (74) in the third and fourth seasons of the Netflix series about the British royal family. The two met for the first time on the occasion of International Women’s Day!
And – was there really tension between the real Duchess and the fake Camilla at Clarence House?
Emerald Fennell expected the worst, joking: “I was terrified, they would throw me in the tower.” The tower once served as a prison for the British Crown – but the actress was eventually spared.
Emerald Fennell was delighted to meet the Duchess and added: “It was especially nice to meet her on International Women’s Day. As you know, she is particularly committed to women’s charities.”
She also sees Camilla as a role model when dealing with the public: “She’s been in the spotlight for a long time and has always lived up to it with great grace and good humour.”
The Emerald’s initial concerns about the meeting turned out to be completely unfounded – the real Duchess took it with humour.
Camilla also made a joke during her speech, referring to her series double: “It’s very reassuring to know that my fictional alter ego is here if I should lose the thread. So emerald – be ready.”
So what does Camilla think of the Netflix series Emerald played her? The Duchess did not comment on this, but according to “Vanity Fair” Camilla is said to have seen the series. A source told the magazine: “I think she must be tuning in with a glass of red wine to watch her. Her sense of humor is great and it won’t bother her in the slightest.”
She has already proved just how easy-going and relaxed Camilla is and thus garnered all the royal sympathy.
