Former slalom specialist Sigi Vogleriter attacked the international ski federation as head of racing for Urs Krienbühl’s organization Fischer. In an interview with Blick, the Austrian says: “I am disappointed that the FIS did not manage to make an offer to unvaccinated athletes, making it possible to participate in Lake Louise.”
Voglwrighter compares tennis: “A few weeks ago, at the start of the ATP tournament in Toronto, there were reportedly unvaccinated players. Why are unvaccinated tennis players allowed to enter the same country while unvaccinated ski racers? Have to stay outside?”
Blick confronts Jörg Capol, FIS marketing director, with this question. Answer from former World Cup cross-country skier: “I don’t know if unvaccinated tennis players are allowed to play in Toronto. But the fact is that we have done everything possible so that athletes like Urs Krienbühl can also participate in Lake Louise. We have received a clear disapproval from the Canadian health authorities.” (MWP)
