Archbishop Hans-Joseph Becker said in his sermon to the eight new parish officials, “Spread the ‘light of faith’ as much as possible, bringing to the people a ‘taste of divine love’.” He is sent to show other people that “there is a hope that remains in spite of everything and is greater than itself”. The Archbishop of Paderborn emphasized: “We are sent here and now as representatives of the Church of Jesus Christ, the Church.” That the preached word also corresponds to one’s own life and belief in service is essential. The church there is “the church of Jesus Christ, a church for others, a serving church”.
for God and people
“Inertia and dynamism” are equally important for the Church and for pastoral care, emphasized Archbishop Baker in the Pontifical Office. “We need good foundations, and at the same time we need feet that will lead us to this time and to God and people.” In reality it is important to be among people. God can be experienced through reality, encountered in Him, and truly proclaimed.
