Ouch moment in the spectacle of the game “Catch up! Battle of Continents 2022” by Sat1.
Shortly before the final, Oliver Pocher (43) wanted to give a special performance and challenged host Simon Pierce (40) to a catch. However, the comedian pulled over and unhappily landed on his thumb.
Teams from Europe, America, Asia and Africa participated in the show, each with a leading captain. Apart from Pochar, this time the challenge was faced by actress Luna Schweiger (25), former kicker Hans Sarpei (45) and TV presenter Melissa Khalj (32). Pocher mocked himself before the opening signal and said with a grin to the hostess Andrea Kaiser (39): “I don’t want to go home with two broken shins.”
In the final competition, all the participants really gave their all, as only two teams made it to the finals. A catcher had to chase several runners from the opposing team. Points were awarded for each catch. Pocher, who was clearly the last challenger still in his bones, fell on this lap and let the others do the same. His fellow fighters were able to assert themselves against Luna Schweiger’s Team America.
The success made Poacher so enthusiastic that he now wanted to compete – almost out of turn. “I volunteer, at least, just to feel like I’m going up against someone in that thing again. Maybe against a celebrity.” Simon Pierce was immediately there. “I’ll catch you!” Same At the time, the presenter believed: “It would be indecent.”
As they both headed towards the course, Pocher joked: “It would be very silly if I hurt myself now. Like a friendly game against Liechtenstein, where nothing is at stake. “
And that’s exactly what happened: After a few seconds, Poacher slipped and sadly fell to the ground. Simon Pierce did not stop and fell on his TV colleague. A moment of shock in the studio.
When Poacher woke up again, it became clear: his instinctive action ended quite painfully. To presenter Andrea Kaiser he said, quite horrified: “You won’t believe what I hurt myself. Your thumb!” The unlucky man got an ice pack to cool him down. The diagnosis was soon established. Poacher: “Now it’s just a capsule injury.”
In the relay race in the final against Team Africa, defending champions around Hans Sarpei, he was still there and already able to crack jokes: “I’ll start first, so I can break the first two.” The strategy really worked – Pocher and his team won the title.
