Thanks to a 3–2 win over Austria in the final group stage match, Switzerland qualified for the knockout stages of the U20 World Cup, where they now face Canada.

Head coach Marco Beyer’s team needed some help from their opponents to decide against Austrian outsiders. Lorenz Lindner spoiled his side in the 56th minute, when he was sent to the bath early for a gang check and Switzerland were allowed to play the majority of the 5-minute game.

The Swiss needed only 49 seconds to succeed in the power play. Attilio Biasca successfully struck around in the slot and sank the disc into the Austrians’ goal to make it 3-2.

Both teams scored one goal in the first two periods. Apart from Biasca, Switzerland also scored with Joshua Fahrni (18th) and Jonas Taibel (35th).

now against canada

In Round 8, the U20 national team meets Canada, who won Group A without a loss and with a goal difference of +20.
