As of now, Canon has offered the City pedelec Presede:On with an expensive carbon frame. Now there is a cheaper option from 2600 euros, which can also be charged properly. However, Precede:ON itself isn’t lightweight.
With Precede: ON AL, bicycle maker Canyon is expanding its range with the comparatively inexpensive City pedelec. At the center is a solid-looking aluminum frame in a diamond or step-through motif, with lines and cables remaining invisible.
The battery is largely hidden in the down tube, which supplies power to the Bosch mid-engine in either Active Line Plus or Performance Line performance levels. Depending on the frame size, 500 or 625 Wh batteries and various derailleur or hub gears are available. Purion Display is the display and control unit.
There are also various options to choose from for the predecessor: ON AL when it comes to other equipment details. Depending on the model, hydraulic disc brakes are installed from Promax or Magura. In addition to the rear luggage rack, design baskets and front luggage racks are also available.
With a weight of approximately 25 kg and a permissible total weight of 140 kg, Precede: ON AL offers discounts in terms of loading. Common equipment includes LED lighting, side stands, mudguards and voluminous tyres. There is no suspension.
The entry-level model is the 5, which starts at around 2600 euros with a smaller frame and battery, Active Line Plus motor and 11-speed derailleur gear. The top model is the 7 with Magura brakes, Performance Line motor, belt drive and manually operated Enviolo hub gear, with prices starting at 3500 euros. For comparison: the carbon version of the Precede: ON starts at around €4000.
