Vodafone: Cable TV stations to be swapped soon

TV and radio stations will soon receive new frequencies in the Vodafone cable network – for many subscribers, the ordering of stations on television means chaos. You can do this.

Streaming is also becoming increasingly important in Germany – but a large proportion of Germans still rely on linear cable television. About 13 million households depend on the Vodafone cable network. A major rearrangement of TV and radio stations is imminent.

In concrete terms, a new frequency will be given to many stations: on the one hand, this should ensure Germany-wide uniformity in the cable network and, on the other hand, create more room for future expansion through more effective use of frequencies.

In theory, this does not initially change anything the TV offers – depending on the device used, however, it may happen that the day after the change the channels may not be in the normal program slot or individual channels may disappear altogether .

What needs to be done after frequency change?

According to the company, anyone who uses a TV receiver from Vodafone (formerly Unitymedia) or Sky should not experience any restrictions. However, the condition for this is that the device should not be switched off overnight. The required channel search can be done automatically in the background.

If you use other devices – or connect the cable directly to your TV set, you may have to manually start the channel search after the change. How it works should be seen in detail in the manual of the device concerned. Most of the time you can find the setting “Scanning” but in the settings menu of the device. There you should activate the automatic channel search.
