West Bank: Israeli settlers leave illegal checkpoints

After weeks of tension with neighboring Palestinians, Israeli settlers have illegally established outposts Western coast leave. According to an AFP news agency reporter, Israeli soldiers and police were present when the last settler’s vehicle left Avitar near Nablus. Palestinians from a neighboring village protested vigorously against the outpost. Within a month four Palestinians were killed in clashes with Israeli forces.

Prime Minister of Israel Naftali Bennett An agreement was announced with the settlers regarding the eviction on Wednesday evening. However, this does not rule out a possible return of the settlers. The Defense Ministry should investigate whether the area can be designated as “Israeli territory”. In such a situation, permission will be given to build religious places along with the respective residential areas. All Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank are illegal under international law. The Palestinians, who have claimed for themselves the disputed land around the checkpoint, are demanding the permanent eviction of the settlement.
