No one expected this action…
When “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” Candidate Marcella Atalanta Akalin sat in the mentoring chair of Gunther Jauch (65) on Monday evening, with the moderator letting himself joke a bit. In the middle of his show, he involuntarily called through for a taxi. A phone prank that made the entire studio laugh.
And so it happened: the assistant doctor pondered the difficult 125,000-euro question: Jauch wanted to know: “Anyone who dials 22456 with their smartphone should probably…?” A: Announcement of time, B: A pizza, C: Information or D: A taxi.
The woman from Düsseldorf had no instincts at all and was puzzled at all four possible answers: “Call the information desk – is she still there?” She also couldn’t really get used to the announcement of time. “Do you still need it when you look at your smartphone?”
Not even his telephone clown could find a candidate, who only gave vague advice of time to be announced. Marcella finally gave up with a heavy heart. “I’d love to move on, but it’s too hot for me.” So she went out and took with her the €64,000 she had earned up to that point.
Günther Jauch, who didn’t know it, had an unusual idea for resolution: “Let’s call and see who makes contact!” Sooner not said. He had a smartphone given to him by an employee, entered the number and pressed the speaker button.
Only a tape announcement could be heard. Voice: “Hello, good day! Nice to call you. Here’s the nationwide taxi call.” An “Ah!” went through the studio. The quiz question was answered.
But Jauch didn’t want to leave it here. When the other end of the line asked him to name the city he was in, the moderator disguised as the phone laughed: “I really just wanted to know what time it is. I’ll call later ” After that, he quickly hung up the phone.
Jauch got a lot of laughter from the audience for this number. And his candidate was glad he didn’t gamble. She wants to use her winnings to go on vacation with her best friend. The rest is for the family.
