Processed victims for days

The quantity has become more and more. Scammers told him over the phone about high profits and that the chances of making even more money were not bad. “Calls like this can take hours,” Weiss says. Criminals will “process” their victims with e-mails and phone calls for a long time. The woman also confirmed this. The pensioner said that when asked by the criminals, he also installed programs that allowed access to his laptop.

It’s typical, says Weiss. That way, fraudsters can use the device and do whatever they want, and can even spy on passwords. Weiss also pointed out that the woman was persuaded until she put her ID in the webcam.

The criminals then opened accounts in the background. In addition, the fraudsters spied on the woman’s online banking password so that they could withdraw the money. In this case, according to Weiss, several transactions totaling 20,000 euros were made.
