WTA Report: Elena Switolina's Fall, No. 1 in Dubai's Opening Game

It was a tough day for the top seed in the second round of the Dubai Duty Free Championship (UAE) as top seed Elena Svitolina of Ukraine was upset and Czech Republic runner-up Carolina Pliskova took three sets to advance.

Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova lost the first set 2: 6, 6: 4, 6: 1 against Svitolina. Meanwhile, Latvia’s Anastasia Sevastova was held by Pliskova, but won 3-6, 7-6 (5, 6). -2.

Third-placed Belarusian Arena Sabalenka led in straight sets, but trailed in straight sets during his game against fourth-placed Petra Kvitova Swiss Jill Tisman and Dutch fifth-seed Kiki Bertens of the Czech Republic.
